Liver and Pancreatic Cancer Stories

Whipple Surgery

by Michael on May 30, 2009, at 2:02 pm

I was scared to death when i was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I was referred to Johns Hopkins but I was very disappointed with the lack of compassion that I felt. I sought out Dr. Fraiman at St. Joseph Medical Center. Not only is he a technical wizard but he is a caring and compassionate doctor. My whipple surgery which also required a portal vein resection was under three hours in duration. I was in the hospital for only 1 week in duration. Do not get me wrong, whipple surgery is no walk in the park. I just feel strongly that Dr. Fraiman is the most talented pancreatic surgeon around. His pancreatic fistula rate is extrememly low. Also no residents in training to mess things up! Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.

I agree. Dr Fraiman combines great skill, compassion, and patient-centered care.
